What about ABCHO and hANGRY&ANGRY-f?

It started at 2008. Mysterious duo called hANGRY&ANGRY started to play on Shibuya's clubs and their banners stood up. The fans reconized the duo as Rika Ishikawa (ANGRY) and Hitomi Yoshizawa (hANGRY).

At 2008 came their first release - minialbum Kill me Kiss me.
At 2008 came also Ongaku Gatas' last major single Come Together and Ongaku Gatas 2008 Winter ~Come Together~-concert DVD. Elder Club had concert-tour back then and v-u-den dispanded June 2008.

At 2009 came duo's album Sadistic Dance, 2nd musicvideo Top Secret and concerts outside Japan (SakuraCon at US).
At 2009 Elder Club graduates from H!P, Erina Mano debuts as major-artist with her first major-single Otome no Irori. Also Ai Kago releases her first (and yet last) single no hesItAtion.

At 2010 hANGRY&ANGRY announces an European tour - France, Berlin, London and Helsinki.
At 2010 Ongaku Gatas releases their "indie" single READY! KICK OFF!! that was sold only in their concerts. They have also tour called Ongaku Gatas Live Tour 2010 Haru ~Gatas Ryuu~ - and the DVD that released only from Fanclub.
2010 was busy year for the girls - concerts outside and inside Japan. From GMT +9 timezone to GMT+0.

2011 came hANGRY&ANGRY-f's first single Reconquista and they were as surprise guests at h.NAOTO fashionshow at JapanExpo (Paris).
2011 h&A also released 2010 Sadistic Dance-concert DVD. From July to December they had promotions.
Also at 2011 formed Dream Morning Musume with album and concert tour(s? anyway with 56 concerts). "Back in idol-business".

hANGRY&ANGRY story ends here. Or it isn't ended, there is break right now. But now starts other story.

At 2012, in the middle of spring, was anncouded that Rika and Hitomi will sing anime, called Sengoku Collection, OP-track. Later their 2nd duo was named as ABCHO, which comes from words ABSTRACT and CHOP. ABCHO's first and yet only single was Me wo Tojite Guyusshi yo (目をとじてギュッしよ).
At 2012 was Dream Morning Musume's last concert with special guests [Aya Ishiguro (1st gen), Maki Goto (3rd gen), Nozomi Tsuji (4th gen), Morning Musume (the Ren'nai Hunter-line up)].
Hello!Project got a lot new groups because of SATOYAMA movement, Morning Musume's 50th single sold over 100k (last time was around 2003) and it was great year for Hello!Project in generally.

It's 2013 now. September. Rika and Hitomi have been together every year since 2000:
2000-2005 Morning Musume, summer shuffles (especially Sexy8 and H.P ALL STARS)
2006 Elder Club (Rika had v-u-den and Hitomi was leader of Morning Musume)
2007 Ongaku Gatas, Elder Club
2008 hANGRY&ANGRY, Ongaku Gatas, Elder Club
2009 hANGRY&ANGRY, (Ongaku Gatas - non-active year) ›› Elder Club graduation
2010 hANGRY&ANGRY, Ongaku Gatas
2011 Dream Morning Musume, hANGRY&ANGRY-f
2012 ABCHO, Dream Morning Musume (›› hiatus?), (hANGRY&ANGRY-f - non-active)

Of course we can talk about the year 2006, but you see my point? Every year has happen something.

Let me quote myself from Hello!Online:

I think there is something going on:
@Yoshi_mg: 過去の映像みてるなう。
Something about "Watching footage after long time"

Girls don't talk about hANGRY&ANGRY expect they're doing event as h&A or they are promoting h&A. Watch Rika's blog - she has mention h&A only when they've had h&A-job.
hANGRY&ANGRY is one of h. Naoto mascots and belongs to h.NAOTO-brand. UFP doesn't own h&A songs, and I bet those who own h&A wouldn't let UFP use h&A songs like "ok go ahead". There is many other great H!P songs what Rika and Yossy could sang at MUSIC FESTA - so why to use h&A songs?
› One reason why they sang h&A songs was that they are promoting the brand again. hANGRY&ANGRY is "only" made for the brand and if h.NAOTO needs to sell more goods or something they order Rika and Yossy to do some promo-works. And because being an idol is Rika's and Yossy's work, they'll do it.
› Other reason is just because people know Rika and Yossy are hANGRY&ANGRY. It doesn't matter do they play h&A role or are they on the stage as themselves.
They used Sadistic Dance intro at MUSIC FESTA. UFP doesn't own it and I doubt UFP would pay something for it.
Yossy told it's going more interesting? Well what it could be? What could be more interesting than Rika and Yossy together at same stage? They're both popular, they are from same generation, they are two girls left from "golden era", they have 2 duos and what else. More interesting? They both have boyfriends? lol

The biggest question is - are hANGRY&ANGRY and ABCHO dead projects?
My answer is no. Sengoku Collection doesn't continue anymore and if it continues, it happens in the spring 2014. h.NAOTO doesn't need H&A promotion right now, but halloween single for this year could be possible:

Release date 30th Oct, which is apparently same date as AKB48 has. If this happens, it means we would get more information in the end of September or in the begin of October. Why 30th Oct? It's Wednesday and 31st day is Halloween - halloween-themed single? Why not.

The problem is just can Rika and Hitomi do it? Rika has her own campaing...
...  and Yossi is right now at Okinawa with Makoto Ogawa and couple of women to scupa.
I'm not sure what jobs they have right now, but in fact - they've both been very mysterious for a while. Rika's blogposts have been just "look at how cute Hime-san is today!" (Hime is Rika's poodle), "my sister made these nail" and "here is my campaign". Just couple of selcas. Okay, let's not forget 24h TV with group shots but yeah.
Yossi has that Okinawa-thing and she were in H!P 2013 Summer concert as MCs since Makoto had something else on 31st August.

They both have sometimes been guests in tv-shows but nothing big right now. I think?

Since Rika and Hitomi aren't idols anymore like for example Sayumi Michishige is, it's ok to not to update the blog that often. People wont expect you to do it if you're "old fart". Idols' max-age is about 26 (usually Japanese people marry eachother in their 20s so that's way 22y old idol is already SENIOR) and if you have graduated already, people wont pay attention that much.
I just want to say, that not-to-update-blog is "normal" for OG members as Rika and Hitomi, but usually that kind of silence has been same as Dream Morning Musume had when they recorded Shining Butterfly. If I remembere right, their blogs suddenly turned out into "hi today was nice live yay yay"-way o\ Then BAAM. New single! Remember that?

So, as I've done some speculation, I think there is something going on. I'm crossing fingers here for new release - I'm fine with both ABCHO and h&A. I'd fangirl anyway. I'm waiting.

Oh. Have I mention that in November is hANGRY&ANGRY-f's 5th year?

  1. Really interesting, you have some good points here! And I don't even see Rika's campaign or Yossi's staying in Okinawa a problem, they still would have lots of time left to do their part of the single (meaning recording & shooting, while they don't make the song itself), if it's coming.

I really hope your speculations do come true & that I could get a chance to see the girls live. I started listening to h&A two weeks after their Helsinki concert. I'll never forget how pisses off I was. :D

  2. It would be nice to see another H&A single, since I always thought Yossi's voice in particular sounded best on more rock based songs and Rika can pull off an 80s/90s sounding pop/rock quite well.
ABCHO didn't nearly get enough time to develop to even be warranted being called a new unit, I liked the concept behind it and the song was good, but I really dislike the behind the scenes type of PV...I want to see what they are filming and not them filming you.
I want Yossi and Rika to almost be another type of Puffy AmiYumi, both working together and having personal lives whilst supporting each other and staying moderately popular in sales.
